Tarot Reading And The Covid-19 Pandemic
What Does The Tarot Cards Have To Say About Covid-19?
In 2020 many people, including my clients, asked me if I had predicted the arrival of the COVID-19 virus pandemic. A fair enough question for which I have the following to say:
During 2019, whilst conducting the Wheel of Fortune Reading, which is a special in-depth reading looking at the next 12 months ahead, I started to notice that the actual card the Wheel of Fortune was appearing regularly in people’s readings, surprisingly it always appeared around the Chinese New Year for 2020. As we all know, this was around the time when the pandemic started to take hold in many countries throughout the world.
For those unfamiliar with the tarot cards, the Wheel of Fortune card represents unforeseen events that we have no control over whatsoever, either for the better or the worse for the client. My readings are always delivered on the premise that clients always have ‘Free Will’ in matters, with the opportunity to make decisions one way or another. However, the Wheel of Fortune is the one card in the Tarot deck that says occasionally life, the universe, events, other people, and situations alter matters beyond our control.
At the time, the frequency of the Wheel of Fortune card in clients’ readings was significant, as under normal circumstances this rarely happens. Between July and August 2019, I started to say to people that I saw changes, substantial changes in their lives post The Chinese New Year 2020. I am being very honest here, during this time I had no idea what these changes would be. Nonetheless, I saw the wheel of fortune card indicating that there will be outside influences on people’s lives. I did not see it as an impending disaster, I did not see it as a major closedown of all society across the world, I just saw significant changes coming into many people’s lives.
Cursory research showed that there were going to be six planets in retrograde during 2020, from May to November Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, Mars, and Mercury all went retrograde over a six-month period. Here was my answer I thought, six planets in retrograde so some good stuff and bad stuff was going to happen.
Clearly what happened next was not simply some good stuff and some bad stuff making a few issues for people, instead, it was a massive change in people’s lives and continues to influence our way of living even today. Part of the reason why I can sit here right now and write about the pandemic and its relationship to tarot is that yet again Malaysia is under another strict MCO and I am therefore restricted from reading cards face to face for many people.
Leading up to this latest MCO I noticed over the last two weeks that virtually every single individual I read for had the Wheel of Fortune card appear in their reading early on in the spread. Having learned the lessons from the past I realised straight away that we were indeed going to be in for another lockdown.
It is interesting to note that key Major Arcana cards such as the Death Card and The Tower did not manifest themselves as a reflection of the COVID-19 virus pandemic, but instead, it is represented by the Wheel of Fortune card! To remind you, the Wheel of Fortune card represents something that happens to us, either for good or for bad, but reflects something happening that is beyond our control. Unfortunately, I can’t think of a better example of an event that affects people’s lives, beyond their control, than what has happened with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Logically the next question that people will be asking their tarot card reader is:
How long will this pandemic last and do you see an end to the suffering the people are going through at the moment?
Unfortunately for the foreseeable future, the Wheel of Fortune card is still very prominent, however, people’s readings do show that they have a future, getting on with their lives, that they are adapting to the situation and that they are moving forward in their lives.
Despite everything, the ability of humans to adapt to new situations is often quite remarkable and I believe this adaptability will see us through the current difficult situation. Free will, to either accept and rollover or to fight, adapt, and defeat the pandemic is still strong.
