What Sort Of Question To Ask In A Tarot Reading?
When in Doubt… Do you ever wonder what sort of Question to ask in a Tarot Reading? Occasionally a client will make an inquiry or come to see me and ask what sort of questions can I ask or should I ask?
My answer is often:
You can ask whatever you wish, as I believe that the query itself is just as important as the messages you stand to receive.
To me there are no real dos and don’ts, however, if you want to receive a clear reading a clear and precise question does help. So here I am going to give you a quick guide, tinged with my infamous humour, on what to ask and what questions I hate answering most.
Tarot Reading on Health and Death
This may seem obvious but are you sure that you want to ask the tarot cards questions that you are not ready to hear the answers to.
Four years ago, I was reading for myself and asked about my health….
Okay, do people ever ask about their own health? Rarely! Why you may ask? Probably a little fear that the cards might give them a bad answer.
I dealt The Death Card & the Tower side by side!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two weeks later I contracted Dengue… I had my answer.
CONSIDER THIS…
I have often had people in their late sixties and seventies asking about their parents’ health…
They ain’t no ‘Spring Chicken’ themselves and they are asking about their parents health… What am I to say? Well, If you are not willing to hear the truth of the matter – best not to ask.
So, do I ever predict death? To be very honest, it’s so rare. As all of my clients will tell you, my readings are VERY positive, and offer guidance on a way forward.
Tarot Reading on Medical-type Questions
Tarot cards are not doctors – so, specific health or diagnosis-related questions should be left to medical professionals. That said, you can use tarot cards to help you brainstorm strategies to improve your health. You can ask something like:
“What do I need to consider to get my health back on track?”
Tarot Reading on Questions That Already Have Answers…
Our intuition always has the best answer for us. However, often we doubt our inner voice and look outside of ourselves for guidance. You need to trust yourself first and foremost; the tarot is only there to guide you. I have lost count the number of times a client has said to me, after I have offered guidance:
“Oh yes, my family and friends keep on telling me to do that.”
Also, I am renown for asking the client:
If your friend was in the exact same situation you find yourself right now, what would you advise them?
Then they answer with, what just so happens to be, their solution… Often a Tarot Reading is merely an offering of a confirmation of what needs to be done.
Tarot Reading on Questions About Other People
There is a fine line when it comes to asking questions in your reading that involve other people: If you want to know how to solve a challenge between you and another person or how you can show up better in the relationship to create more harmony, then by all means ask away.
That said, questions that do not come from a place of love and instead have an intent of personal gain are not welcome, nor answered. The lives of others is not your business unless you have been given permission to explore and share.
Amazingly, we go through an hour of tears (plus a box of tissues) and heartbreak going over what a two-timing, bullying, bad tempered misogynist he was… Only for the client to ask:
“Will he be okay in the future?”
My answer is:
“That’s really none of your business now is it, because we have agreed it’s time for you to move on…….”
Tarot Reading on The Same Questions, Over and Over Again…
If you didn’t receive the answer you WANTED and think a rewording will give the answer you want to hear then:
Wake Up!!!
For my sake and the sake of all tarot readers on this planet PLEASE do not continue asking the same question again and again in hopes of getting a better answer. Though the cards will sometimes provide information you don’t want to hear, the truth is ultimately for your highest good.
If you keep on asking the same question, or second guessing the cards by asking the tarot reader to turn another card for what you want to hear, at some point you will get The Tower / Death Card / 10 of Swords – just to teach you a lesson!
Tarot Reading on Yes-or-No Questions
As you all know, because I tell ALL of my clients…
You have ‘FREE WILL’ – so it’s YOUR choice
When in doubt, do nothing. To do nothing is a decision!
Tarot cards can be great for helping us evaluate different options or paths to take, but never forget that we all have free will. That means we choose our choices, not the cards.
So when it comes to either or choices or yes-or-no questions I tend to indulge in complicated spreads that not only look at the likely outcome but also how the client will feel about the outcome along the way, as sometimes what we want isn’t always good for us.
Tarot Reading on Future-Predicting Questions
Again, as many of my clients will testify, I am often heard to say that:
I am NOT a fortune teller!
Your life is NOT set in stone as we all have free will. So, do nothing and nothing happens!
Ladies, remember me saying: “Prince Charming does not have your mobile number on ‘Speed Dial’, if you want to go find him, get out more!
“Will I Pass my exams”. NO, not if you don’t study. Etc. etc.
“Tarot is merely showing you the path that you are on currently and, what is likely to happen if you remain along that path. If you want changes to happen in your life, then YOU must be that change.”
Remember: Do nothing and nothing will happen.
The Tarot reading picks up your ENERGY, feelings, and emotions and gives you an indication of where you are trending right now with the subject that you are asking about. How you react and change your path is up to you. The tarot cards are there to help reveal what’s happening in your life experience right now, and you can choose to redirect things if you please.
So, instead of asking, “Will I meet someone soon?” you can ask, “What do I need to do to find someone to share my life?”
Tarot Reading on The Most Common Questions I Get Asked!
Career & Relationship or Relationship & Career
What’s my career looking like right now? Should I look for another job? Will I get promoted? Should I set up my own business?
When will someone come into my life? Is this person good for me? Will my new guy turn out to be okay? Will she marry me?
Etc etc. etc.
The reason you ask these broad questions is because you want the guidance from the tarot, not the final answer, you have FREE WILL and intuition so you should decide the answers, the tarot reader and the tarot cards are merely there to offer guidance.
You do not go to a movie and just ask to know the ending. You want to see the movie because you want to see the context. You want to go through the journey.
Often, I am asked a general question such as:
What’s happening at work?
Based on my experiences, what the client is really asking is:
“I’m really unhappy at work and I need to discuss the reasons for this unhappiness”.
At this juncture it is up for me, The Tarot Card reader, to intuitively understand this ‘cry for help’ and offer guidance, advice and counselling.
So, whilst the most common questions are indeed about Career & Relationship, often these are thinly disguised requests for help on more deep-seated issues.
Tarot Reading Guidance
Very often a client will come to see me because they are in doubt about something, confused or have a major issue that needs careful consideration.
Therefore, it is helpful to the tarot reader by letting the cards know that you’re confused about the current situation that you are in, explaining the circumstances, and putting all your energy into the cards.
Putting forward your issues or questions in this way provide the tarot cards with an opportunity to share unexpected information that can be helpful, such as pointing out key players in a situation, emotions that may be underneath the surface, or limiting beliefs (belief in yourself also) that are holding you back.
So please be specific when necessary. Asking the tarot cards questions about something specific can provide some powerful insight.
